[attr="class","rostercat2"]Coming to Earth was always in the cards for Kara. With the destruction of her planet, her parents had to come up with a plan and it had to be decided quickly. There was a child, her cousin, that her parents knew that she had to go and protect. It was written in her destiny. With the fires flaring around them, they quickly pushed the young girl into a similar pod to that of Kal-El. With a silent goodbye, and tears streaming down Kara’s cheeks, she was launched into space as the lights of the fires blossomed across the planet and explosions echoed in her ears. In the small space, her hands moved to her ears and blocked out the sounds as the faces of her parents lingered in her mind’s eye. It would haunt her forever but she knew that there was something more important for her to do; protect Kal-El. She was older and though she was young, in her mind, she felt able to do what was expected of her. Crashing into the atmosphere woke the young woman from her cold sleep, her blue eyes peering outside of the glass shell but all she could see was blue. Blue oceans stretched forever long and it wasn’t long before the space ship was breaking the seas calm waves. It was jarring as her fingers tried to tap the controls but in the crash, the side of the ship was damaged. Salt began to pour into the small space and quickly, her hand punched the side. Shattering shards of glass fell to the bottom of the waves as she swam quickly up to the surface. A city of some sort laid in front of her eyes, the dark buildings twinkling but all she could feel was the fear rising in her chest. Where was she? The ship had been programmed to come to Earth but was this it? Kara rested for the night, hiding behind a dock as she tried to come up with another plan. Step one was finding out where she was. The crashing of her ship must have caught the attention of one of the locals that patrolled the area- none other than Batman. The ship had crashed outside of Gotham, near the port and in the setting sun, the ship breaking the atmosphere was not missed. It was a scuffle when she had been discovered. Much to her surprise, she held her own against the Dark Knight but it wasn’t long before the star Clark Kent, better known as Superman, was called to the location. Noticing her family’s crest, anger had filled her. Who dared would wear something so sacred to her people? Enraged, the young woman attacked and came to blows with Superman. It lasted for a long time until she realized that it was endangering the nearby humans- this wasn’t the first impression she wanted to show. Taking a long look at her cousin, she knew that he was the child she would babysit when she was studying for her trials. It was almost laughable but in his eyes, she could see his fathers. It had been a long time remaining in the ship, two decades to be exact. Clark found it would be smarter to send Kara to the careful hands of Diana, Princess of Themyscia. It would be there that she was trained in combat- trained to control her powers and Earth customs. There were issues with some of the others who trained but with a rebellious streak as wide as the Kent farm, she got herself in plenty of trouble. It didn’t take long before the Amazons pushed the bird out of the nest and she took up the name of Kara Kent. Currently, she is trying to figure out herself and hiding the loneliness that holds tight. [attr="class","rostercatsub2"]HISTORY | [attr="class","rostercat2"]WThe words rang strong in her head but she could feel the pull of her brows, light eyes flashing towards those that were similar to her own. Kara stared at the man in front of her as his words floated inside of her mind. Come have dinner with me and Lois… Please. Why should she? There was a green monster that wrapped itself around her heart about the dark-haired beauty. Since she had come to this planet, part of her yearned for the attention of her last family member but it didn’t seem that he had the same need after a year of her being there. This was unrealistic- it was probably his job, the Justice League, or even his relationship with the woman but that didn’t make her feel better. To her, Kara felt that she deserved more. “Have dinner? That’s what you came here to ask?” A snort came from the blonde as she threw the shirt she had in her hand onto the bed. Turning on her heel, she faced him. A tidy shirt, pressed slacks and a pair of glasses sat on his nose- this was Clark Kent. Not the child that she watched as a teenager back on their homeworld. There was an earnestly in his eyes that she couldn’t stand, causing another sigh to leave her lips as she moved to sit on the twin mattress. “Kara... “ It was followed by a sigh as once more the taller male moved into her view. Looking at his frame from under her eyelashes, she crossed her arms under her chest of the black shirt. “I don’t understand.” It was a simple statement but it held weight. A piece of her wanted to yell, to get the anger out of her chest but at that moment she just felt numb. In the last couple of months, isolation had become a big part of her routine. How long since it had been since Conner had seen her? Chewing on the inner side of her mouth, thoughts drifted in the young woman’s mind as the dark blue eyes weighed heavily on her form. The silence drifted between the pair as they remained at odds. What was there to lose to go see Lois and eat dinner? A part of her wanted to be alone, possibly. It made things less confusing- people less confusing. Coming into this world, people already had relationships and friendships that she couldn’t become a part of. The Kents were the only ones who welcomed her with open arms but guilt filled her with each thought of them. Tightening her arms around herself, strands of the sun-kissed hair drifted over her shoulder. Coming to resolve, she heaved a sigh as her light eyes met those of the dark. Searching for a long moment, she quickly dropped her eyes before rising to her feet slowly. Turning on her toe, she shifted forward to the man before gently placing her forehead against his chest. “I-I’m sorry...Clark…” It was soft as her nails dug into her arms for a moment before feeling arms encircling her and hugging her gently to him. They stood like that for a moment- both seemingly searching for the words that needed to be said and the feelings both of them had, to be sorted. Kara broke the silence first as she heaved a sigh, hands dropping to her sides before returning the hug, gently. “I’ll come… but only if we’re having fried chicken.” Humor hinted in her tone as she pulled away from him. Their eyes met and both cracked a small smile, his hand coming to clasp the womans shoulder. “So be it.” [attr="class","rostercatsub2"]WRITING SAMPLE |
